A man has been has been arrested in connection with a crash which hospitalised a 60 year old pedestrian.
The incident happened last Friday the 23rd of August on Churchfield Road.
The 20 year old man has also been arrested in connection with criminal damage at a property in Shanakiel on the same date.
The pedestrian, a man in his 60's remains in CUH in a serious condition.
In a statement to RedFM News, Gardaí said:
"Gardaí investigating an incident of criminal damage at a property in Shanakiel and a road traffic collision on the Churchfield Road in Cork on Friday, 23rd August 2024 have this morning arrested a male.
The man, aged in his 20s, is currently detained under Section 30 of the Offences Against the State Act, 1939 at a Garda Station in the Southern Region.
The male pedestrian (60s) who was taken to Cork University Hospital for treatment following the collision remains in hospital at this time in a serious condition.
Gardaí continue to appeal to anyone with information in relation to these incidents or road users with video footage to contact them.
