Man dies after Youghal stabbing

A man in his 30's has died after he was stabbed in Youghal.

A man in his 20's has been arrested in connection with the incident which happened last night.

Gardaí and emergency services were alerted to the incident after a row broke out between two men at a pub on North Main Street in Youghal at around 10.10pm last night.

A man in his 30's was taken to Cork University Hospital to recieve treatment for serious injuries and was pronounced dead a short time later.

A man in his 20's has been arrested in connection with the fatal assault and is currently being detained.

An incident room has been established at Midleton Garda station while a family liaison officer has been appointed to support the family of the man who died.

Gardaí are appealing to anyone who may have witnessed the incident to come forward.

Gardaí told RedFM News:

"Gardaí are investigating all of the circumstances surrounding the death of a man following a fatal assault in Youghal, Co. Cork on Monday night, 14th April 2025.

At approximately 9:50pm, Gardaí and emergency services were alerted to an assault at a commercial premises on North Main Street.

A man, aged in his 30s, was transferred to Cork University Hospital for treatment of serious injuries, where he was later pronounced deceased.

A man in his 20s has since been arrested and is currently detained under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act, 1984 at a Garda station in Cork County.

A number of scenes are being preserved for forensic examination by the Garda Technical Bureau. The Coroner and the Office of the State Pathologist have been notified and a post-mortem examination will be arranged in due course.

A Senior Investigating Officer (SIO) has been appointed to lead the investigation and an incident room has been established at Midleton Garda Station. A Family Liaison Officer (FLO) will be assigned to support the family of the deceased.

Investigating Gardaí are appealing to anyone who may have witnessed the incident to come forward.
