A man in his 50's has been killed in a road crash near Kinsale.
The single vehicle collision happened at around 6 o'clock yesterday evening on the R607 at Farranamoy.
The driver and only occupant of the car was pronounced dead at the scene and a post mortem will take place at Cork University Hospital.
Gardaí are appealing to anyone who may have witnessed the crash on the R607 at Farranamoy near Kinsale to contact them.
In a statement to RedFM News, Gardaí said:
"Gardaí in Cork are appealing for witnesses following a single vehicle fatal road traffic incident near Kinsale, Co. Cork on Wednesday evening, 20th March 2024.
Shortly after 7:00pm, Gardaí and emergency services were alerted to a single vehicle collision on the on the R607 at Farranamoy, near Kinsale. The sole occupant and driver of the car, a male in his 50s, was pronounced deceased at the scene.
The body of the deceased was removed from the scene to Cork University Hospital, where a post mortem examination is due to take place at a later stage.
Investigating Gardaí are appealing for witnesses to come forward. They also appeal to anyone with video footage (including dash-cam) from the area between 6:30pm and 7:15pm on the 20th March 2024 to make this available to them.
