Many Schools Still Waiting To Receive CO2 Monitors Just Days Ahead Of Return To Class

The devices are set to be given to schools across the country in a bid to ensure quality airflow and ventilation in classrooms.

The Delta Covid wave is not expected to peak until next month, according to Taoiseach Micheal Martin, with daily case numbers recently hitting a 7 month high.

ASTI president Eamon Dennehy says teachers are concerned they still have not received CO2 monitors for their classrooms:

"We're disappointed as well that it's not for every room in the school. We need to see them being delivered ASAP at this stage. We need to look into the whole idea of air filtration and improved ventilation as well because many of our buildings are very out-of-date and very unsuitable for these times, especially with that virus circulating around us. It appears about about half the classrooms in the school will be equipped with a CO2 monitor."
