The Mechanical Engineering & Building Services Contractors Association says construction workers picketing outside large multi-national firms is causing reputational damage for the sector.
Plumbers, fitters and welders part of Unite Trade Union are participating in work stoppages around the country for the second time today.
The union is calling for travel time allowances which were taken away during the recession to be reinstated.
Speaking to RedFM News, Jean Winters from MEBSA is calling on Unite to call of the protest and re-engage in traditional pay dispute practices:
"Picketing, a at some of these plants is just causing reputational damage to the sector and our ability to resolve issues and dispute, and that's why we're calling on the union to re-engage the traditional practice of collective bargaining."
