A member of Mallow Search and Rescue says the team spent almost 3 hours searching for a body in the River Lee on Thursday evening.
Gardaí are appealing for witnesses after a man entered the water on Lavitt's Quay in the early hours of the morning, last Thursday the 12th of October.
Anyone who may have been in the Lavitt's Quay or Pope's Quay area between 1 and 1.30am and has any information should contact the Bridewell or Anglesea Street Garda Stations.
Speaking to RedFM News, John Wolfe of Mallow Search and Rescue says the body of a man in his 50s was found:
"We got a call from the Gardaí to assist a person seen entering the river, in the region of the Opera House. So we travelled up on Thursday afternoon/evening, and we started the search where we located the body of a missing person in the water".
