Lord of the Dance star Michael Flatley is recovering from surgery for an agressive form of cancer.
Representatives of the 64 year old confirmed he is being treated for cancer yesterday evening.
In a statement to RedFM News last night, representatives of the US dancing star confirmed he is being treated for an aggressive form of cancer.
His team say is in the care of an excellent team of doctors and say no further comment will be made at this time.
The statement went on to ask for people's prayers and well wishes.
A native of Chicago, Flatley first burst onto the scene as part of Riverdance in the mid-1990s and later toured the world with his Lord of the Dance production.
He bought Castlehyde in Fermoy 2001 and completly renovated the vast estate. He settled in the town and married Niamh O'Brien at St. Patrick's Church in the town in 2006. The couple have one son who was born the following year.
Injury forced him to retire from dancing in 2016.
His self financed and directed spy movie Blackbird was released in September last year.
