The Minister for Finance says the Government will do all it can to reopen a creche on the north side of the city.

The Before 5 Family Centre in Churchfield closed unexpectedly last August leaving children without preschool places.

Northside Community Enterprises agreed to take over the childcare facility and have asked the Government for €336,000 in funding to make the building fit for purpose.

Speaking to RedFM News, Minister Michael McGrath says he’s prepared to make sure the centre secures the funding:

"I have asked Minister O'Gorman to officiate a meeting with the NCE. IT's a project that's really important, we do support it, we want to see it happen and they have made a request for capital for the building to make sure it's fully fit for purpose. I will engage with them to make sure that, that engagement happens."
