Netflix have released the trailer for a brand new film starring Normal People's Paul Mescal, Oscar winner Olivia Colman, Fifty Shades of Grey star Dakota Johnson and Kerry's Jessie Buckley.
"The Lost Daughter" tells the story of a woman at the seaside who becomes obsessed with a young mother and daughter that she comes across while on holidays.
The film is directed by Maggie Gyllenhaal and is adapted by a 2006 novel of the same name by Elena Ferrante.
The synopsis for the movie reads: “Alone on a seaside vacation, Leda (Olivia Colman) becomes consumed with a young mother (Dakota Johnson) and daughter as she watches them on the beach.”
“Unnerved by their compelling relationship (and their raucous and menacing extended family), Leda is overwhelmed by her own memories of the terror, confusion, and intensity of early motherhood.”
“An impulsive act shocks Leda into the strange and ominous world of her own mind, where she is forced to face the unconventional choices she made as a young mother and their consequences.”
"The Lost Daughter" will be in cinemas on December 17th and will be available to stream on Netflix from December 31st.
