MTU say they expect to bring several systems back online today and over the coming days following the recent ransomware attack.
Systems including email, HR, finance and payroll were not impacted after the breach was detected at an early stage, however students have been unable to pay with card or log onto the university's E-Learning system, Canvas.
MTU confirmed on Sunday that information stolen from their servers was available on the dark web, while Higher Education Minister Simon Harris told the Dáil yesterday that anyone whose personal information was compromised in the attack would be contacted by letter shortly.
Investigations into the attack are ongoing.
Speaking to RedFM News yesterday evening, MTU President Maggie Cusack says they expect to have Canvas back online today:
"From the very beginning, many of our systems were available throughout, so our websites, mail, Teams, our OneDrive, Microsoft 365 have all been available.
"We have a very carefully mapped out roadmap to restoring all of our systems, and we're working through things in a very logical and measured manner. We're very close to bringing back a whole suite of systems and Canvas is included int heat, so that's very soon - certainly by tomorrow [Thursday] we will have Canvas available."
