Munster GAA is appealing to supporters not to enter the field of play after matches

The call comes after a teenage supporter was injured during a pitch invasion at the Cork/Limerick hurling match last weekend.

The girl was pulled to safety by a steward and was treated by members of St John's Ambulance at the ground

RedFM's GAA Correspondent Ger McCarthy who was at the match, says pitch invasions pose a health and safety risk but he believes Munster GAA managed the situation well

"It's understandable to me that people would want to get out onto the pitch if they thought they could to meet the players, but it is dangerous. I would point to Munster GAA's  safety record, they know what they're doing in these situations, but on this particular night, such was the rush down from the terraces  to try and get onto the pitch, I don't think Munster GAA were left with no choice but to open that gate because if they did not open the gate, you would have had a much bigger surge"
