Kanye West has asked an LA court to legally change his name to Ye.
The 44-year-old has cited "personal reasons" in court documents for the request to change his name.
Ye was the title of West's 2018 album and has been a longstanding nickname for the rapper and fashion designer.
Kanye had previously indicated his desire to change his name in a tweet saying. "The being formally known as Kanye West I am YE."
West is set to release his 10th studio album Donda in coming weeks. The album is named after his mother who passed away suddenly in 2007 following complications from plastic surgery.
Kanye is also in the process of divorcing his wife Kim Kardashian West after seven years of marriage with whom he shares four children.
