The National Womens Council is calling on the Government to tackle the childcare crisis.
Around 30 facilities closed in Cork last year.
Quality Co-ordinator with the National Women's Council, Donal Swan says the government needs to take the next step in childcare:
"So the current system of childcare just isn't working. it's not working for children, it's not working for women, it's not working for families, and it's unaffordable and inaccessible for many so although we've welcomed funding in recent years, we really think Government needs to take the next step in budget 2025 and really move towards a public system of early childhood education and care."
