This is according to new HSE figures.
The data showed there were just over 8-thousand initial consultations for access to abortion last year.
Of these, 6,577 women progressed with the procedure.
Eilís Mulroy, of the Pro Life Campaign, says this shows the importance of taking time to consider the decision:
"Yeah well what this data indicates is that there's a significant number of women who changed their mind about having an abortion between that first consultation with their doctor, and actually going ahead with the procedure. I think it highlights very clearly how important it is that women would have the opportunity to take that time to consider their decision."
