It's estimated 19 million teenage girls around the world have experienced intimate partner violence.
Research by the World Health Organisation found 24 per cent, of 15 to 19 year olds who've been in relationships, have experienced abuse.
The WHO says it includes kicking or hitting, as well as unwanted sexual acts, such as rape or attempted rape.
Dr. Lynnmarie Sardinha, lead author of the report, says partner violence against teenage girls is a serious problem:
"So we're saying, you know, close to a quarter around the world have faced this violence like you say, from someone they trust, someone they love, a partner, is actually 19 million young girls and women who are subjected to this violence and it's really concerning how early this violence starts."
