23 Irish citizens are currently in Afghanistan as the country descends into chaos.
The Taliban has taken control of the capital and many Afghans and foreign national are now trying to flee.
Footage shows people at Kabul's airport climbing structures in an attempt to board planes, although all commercial flights have been cancelled.
The Foreign Affairs Minister has described the situation as the most significant foreign policy catastrophe in 20 years.
Minister Simon Coveney says the Government is in contact with all Irish Citizens who are in the country.
"Some of them would have had bookings, and we would have helped them get bookings on commercial flights which have now been cancelled.
"We're working with other EU partners, as you would expect, to try and find ways of getting people out as quickly as we can.
"We will stay in close contact with all 23, most of whom want to leave.
"Not all of them want to leave - some of them are working with big aid organisations and they have opted to stay for now."
