A 23 year old man who was the victim of a homophobic attack in Dublin city over the weekend says he's still in shock following the assault.
Evan Somers posted a photo of his injuries on Twitter on Monday, saying he was verbally abused and beaten up by a stranger on Dame Street after a night out in The George.
He suffered a fractured eye socket, and is awaiting surgery on his ankle after it was dislocated and fractured in two places.
Evan says he feels like a different person since the attack:
"Over the last few days, I've tried so hard to be positive that today it's only really starting to hit me, and I think even so it hasn't really hit me properly kind of what happened, and like I think personally it might take a while but I don't know. I do know the person who went out on Saturday, might not be the same person sitting here today. I do feel a little bit different. Not sure how exactly that is, I find it hard to put into words you know, I do feel like maybe there will be a little bit of hesitation for a while."
