A 39-year-old man who repeatedly stabbed his wife in October 2017 while she was taking steps to end their marriage has been handed a life sentence for her murder.
Renato Gehlen had claimed that his wife, Anne Colomines stabbed herself in their home just off Gardiner Street in Dublin city.
A post-mortem revealed what appeared to be defensive wounds and the State Pathologist found his explanation for how she died as "unlikely."
With the help of an interpreter outside court this afternoon, Anne’s sister, Alexandra, described how the family felt now that her killer has been convicted and sentenced:
"We are really relieved. We feel we have been heard. We hope that Anne, wherever she is, can see us."
