Shoppers who chase supermarket vouchers in a bid to bag a bargain are actually spending more.
That's according to new research this morning, which show shoppers who use vouchers are actually spending an additional €477 a year.
The study carried out by Coyne research showed people were spending more than €9 in order to get discount vouchers.
Managing Director of Coyne research Bernie Coyne said people are buying things they don't need:
"When we asked them the direct question: in the past year, have you ever intentionally overspent, shopped more frequently or bought something you didn't need to in order to qualify for money or vouchers in a supermarket? 50% of all adults agree that they did."
