68 vehicles have been caught speeding in the first 5 hours of National Slow Down Day.
Gardai and GoSafe have checked the speeds of over 37 thousand vehicles across the country, in an effort to make the roads safer.
Some of the notable detections include a driver travelling at 94 kilometres an hour in a 60 kilometre zone on the N4 near Carrick On Shannon, and a driver detected at 113 kilometres per hour in an 80 zone near Letterkenny.
The operation will run until 7am tomorrow morning, and Gardaí are thanking all drivers for their compliance so far.
