A 31 year old man has been sentenced to life in prison for the murder of Danielle McLaughlin in India nearly eight years ago.
Vikat Bhagat was found guilty last week and was sentenced this morning.

"Twenty eight year old Danielle McLaughlin, who grew up in Buncrana and County Donegal, went backpacking in India in February in 2017.She had travelled to Goa in March, where she was
raped and murdered by local man, Vikat Bhagat. This morning, he was sentenced to life in prison following his guilty verdict. On Friday, Miss McLaughlin's family had travelled to India for
the verdict, saying, justice had finally been achieved".
