A Cork TD Is Calling For Classroom Sizes To Be Reduced

Schools are beginning to re-open after months of closure

45 students were in one classroom in Westmeath last year.

Figures from the Department of Education across primary and secondary schools shows the second highest was 40 in Cork.

However, in Mayo and Cork there were classrooms with just one student in 2019.

On average, classrooms in Fingal, Dun Laoghaire and Meath had the highest number of students.

Cork TD and Sinn Fein's Education Spokesperson Donnchadh O'Laoghaire says overcrowding needs to be addressed so schools can remain open
