Phil Hogan retired earlier this week

The three government party leaders met last night to discuss Phil Hogan's replacement.

They were asked to nominate a man and a woman, and the European Commission will then decide which portfolio the person gets.

Dublin MEP Barry Andrews says Fine Gael MEPs Frances Fitzgerald and Mairead McGuinness are among the front-runners.
