A man in his 30s has been charged with assaulting a member of the Gardaí in Dublin.
He is due to appear in court tomorrow morning.
Gardaí responded to reports of dangerous driving at Gulliver's Retail Park in Ballymun at around half eleven yesterday morning.
While carrying out an arrest, a member of the Gardaí was assaulted and was left with serious, but non-life threatening injuries.
He was taken to Connolly Hospital for treatment after serious bite injuries to his finger and hand.
A man in his 30s was arrested and has since been charged.
He remains in Garda custody this afternoon, and is due to appear before Dublin District Court tomorrow morninG
Labour's Justice Spokesperson, Aodhan O'Riordain, says it's time to 'get serious' about protecting Gardaí while the Justice Minister has said that we must remember the dangers all Gardai face when doing their job to keep us safe.
Simon Harris added that his thoughts are with the injured Garda as he receives treatment.
