More job losses are being forecast for the weeks and months ahead.
Professional services firm Accenture became the latest to announce lay-offs yesterday, it's letting go 400 of its Irish staff. Accenture has an office in Cork city in Blackrock.
It follows a spate of recent job cuts in the tech sector.
Technology correspondent with the Irish Independent, Adrian Weckler, believes there's more to come.
"Right now it looks likely that there will be more job layoffs announced int he coming weeks or months.
"We seem to be a the start of a second wave - it's been the worst two weeks for tech lay offs in Ireland for some time."
