Aer Lingus has begun it's meeting with the Labour Court as it hopes to make progress in a pay row with its pilots.

Members of the pilots union IALPA will begin a work to rule from midnight tonight, with an 8-hour stoppage on Saturday.

They're looking for a pay rise of nearly 24-percent.

Speaking on the way into the Labour Court, Aer Lingus CEO Lynne Embleton welcomed the latest intervention

"We are hoping that we can make some progress. But of course this is awful for customers. The industrial action is hurting customers already. We have people on weddings, we have people on family holidays, we have the Taylor Swift Fans, so this is all awful for all of them"

IALPA President, Captain Mark Tighe, says they are not going to back down from their pay claim

"Our claim remains the same. The Labour Court last time heard the claim and saw fit in its judgement to recommend an interim pay rise, and to push it down the road across the summer. In discussions the pilots considered and roundly rejected"
