Aer Lingus pilots will ballot for industrial action for a second time.

In a letter to members, IALPA says it will be conducting a paper ballot from today until 11 o'clock on Monday morning.

It will ask if members wish to vote in favour of industrial action, up to and including and all-out strike in a row over pay.

Pilots based in Dublin and Cork have been given locations in which to vote, with the executive recommending they vote YES to industrial action.

In a statement, Aer Lingus says it had queried the validity of the last ballot, which had been conducted electronically.

It says it notes the re-ballot using paper means.

It follows discussions between the union and the airline, which broke down last night without agreement.
