Former Taoiseach Bertie Ahern has said Micheál Martin will want the first go at being Taoiseach in a new government.
Fine Gael and Fianna Fáil have sent a 10 point document to smaller parties trying to get them on board with a coalition.
The Social Democrats wrote to Leo Varadkar and Micheál Martin this morning looking for costings and economic projections.
Ahern says it will be hard to get a third party on board - and when they do, Micheál Martin will want to be Taoiseach first in any arrangement.
"Micheál will say he's the biggest party, but if I was Micheál I'd probably also say I'm also 60, and as Fianna Fáil people as Taoiseach go that's old.
'I'm sure he would want to go first, and I don't blame him for that and I think he has the argument for that."
