The Association of Garda Sergeants and Inspectors is defending the cost of the Garda band.
Figures published in the Examiner today, state the group has cost tax-payers around €25,000 per performance over the past two years.
The band comprises of 26 full-time musicians who are not involved in policing usually, but were deployed during the pandemic.
AGSI General Secretary Antoinette Cunningham says they provide free music and are vital to local communities.
