An attempt to restore the power-sharing executive in the North has failed.

MLAs gathered in Belfast today for what was the third attempt since the Stormont elections to get the institutions up and running.

The DUP opposes the restoration of the Executive until issues around the Northern Ireland protocol are resolved.

The party's Brian Kingston says their conditions still haven't been met:

"Only with its past, it's passage on diminished can our institutions be freed from the dark shadow of the protocol that point has not yet been reached? And we will want to assess the views of any future new prime minister, before taking any further action."
