It's understood attempts had been made to conceal the body of a man found dead at his Westmeath home this week.
Belgian native Stefan Posschier, aged in his 60s, was found dead at a house near Milltownpass on Tuesday evening.
It's believed he died in violent circumstances and the results of a post-mortem are due today.
A man is assisting Gardaí with their inquiries, however John Hand, Chief Reporter with the Irish Mirror, says they are yet to make any arrests:
"His body was found on Tuesday evening by a relative who raised the alarm with the Gardaí, there was evidence of efforts to conceal the body at the property. Gardaí have identified a chief suspect who was located in the southeast of the country on the same evening of the body find. This man has spoken to Gardaí but he's yet to be arrested in relation to this investigation."
