Bank of Ireland is warning about an increase in the number of scams in circulation which impersonate a member of your family.
It's recorded a 25 per cent increase in the number of cases involving 'Hi Mum' or 'Dad' texts in the month of July.
The bank believes the messages which claim to be from a relative abroad in need of money, were timed to coincide with holiday season when many people are away.
Bank of Ireland is warning customers never to trust text messages, and to always stop, think and check before responding.
