Gardaí need to find Deirdre Jacob's body to finally convict someone of her murder, according to a retired cold case detective.
Today is the 24th anniversary of the 18-year-old's disappearance in Newbridge, Co Kildare.
The DPP recently decided not to charge rapist Larry Murphy with her murder, after receiving a file from the Gardaí.
Former head of the Garda Cold Case Unit, Alan Bailey, says there could still be a breakthrough:
"It is so difficult to prove somebody has been murdered if you don't have the body. If the body was located tomorrow morning, I have no doubt it will be carefully examined because with all the advances in DNA there is a possibility of locating some evidence."
