The number of people who emailed Bodywhys, looking for help with their eating disorders, increased by 71% last year.
There was also a 55% rise in attendance at their support services.
Bodywhys is the Eating Disorders Association of Ireland.
Ellen Jennings, from the organisation, says there were several reasons for the spike in 2021:
"During the pandemic, there was increased uncertainty and a change of routine for people. Things were all online so that could have intensified things for people, and we know that it pushed people towards coping in that way who may have been vulnerable. People who are already experiencing an eating disorder or in recovery from an eating disorder may have experienced a relapse."
