The Finance Minister has been unveiling Budget 2025
A cut in the USC by 1%, the higher rate of tax rises 2,000 euro to 44,000 and the minimum wage to rise by 80c to 13.50 an hour from January 1st are among the early key announcements
Among the so called "old reliables"
- A pack of 20 cigarettes are going up by 1 euro from midnight bringing the most popular pack price to €18.05
- A tax on e-cigarettes will be introduced from the middle of next year at a rate of 50c per ml of eliquid - typical vape has 2ml so average price will go from €8 to €9.23
Carbon tax will increase on 9th October from €56 to €63.50 for petrol and diesel
An increase in the carer tax credit by €150, payments to women under the Cervical Check payment scheme to be exempt from tax and the extension of the Help to Buy scheme under the end of the decade have also been announced
Minister Chambers also says the entry rate to 3 per cent rate of USC will rise to €27,000
