The cabinet has signed off on an evictions ban until the end of March.
Ministers approved the move which will see evictions banned over the winter months.
There will be a phased re-introduction of evictions from April 2023.
Tánaiste Leo Varadkar has admitted the move won't solve all the current housing problems.
