A Cabinet sub-committee will meet on Thursday to tackle the rising cost of living.
The Government's planning 'once off measures' to help people deal with spiralling fuel and energy costs.
It says there'll be no 'mini- budget' and rises to social welfare and tax cuts have been ruled out.
Labour's Finance spokesperson, Ged Nash is calling for VAT to be slashed and rent freezes to help households.
"For example, a cut to VAT on fuel and energy bills that, an expansion of the fuel allowance to an additional 150,000 families, and the freezing of rents as we did in 2015.
"It was quite extraordinary, and I think quite telling, that the government is waiting until Thursday for the economic sub committee to meet, to develop some solutions to the problems that are mounting every day for families across the country."
