Cabinet will sign off on a €352m home retrofitting plan this morning.
It will include Government covering around half the cost of deep retrofitting and up to 80% of smaller projects.
This plan will see the largest State offering when it comes to home retrofitting grants.
More than €25,000 will be offered to people conducting a full retrofit, covering around half the cost, while low interest Government loans will also be available later in the year.
Up to 80% of smaller projects, like attic or cavity wall insulation will be made available - which will reduce the cost of those projects to in the region of €300.
Up to 400 energy upgrades a month will be conducted for low income families free of charge.
Applications for the new grants will open in the coming weeks, with plans to set up one-stop-shops where people can get homes assessed, apply for grants and have work carried out.
More than €8bn has been allocated in the National Development Plan out to 2030, with the Government saying securing steady and guaranteed work for contractors will be an important part of the retrofit plan.
