The Scout Abuse Survivors group is calling for a criminal investigation to be carried out into Scouting Ireland and its legacy organisations.

Earlier this month, a review into historical abuse within Scouting Ireland found evidence of cronyism and that leaders were covering up 'credible cases to protect the movement'.

The abuse has so far been reported by 356 victims and survivors and was carried out by 275 alleged perpetrators.

Paul O'Toole, of Scout Abuse Survivors, says Ian Elliot's review offered nothing to them.

"It was a waste of a publication and it was a waste of time.

"I don't think it does anything for the present Scouting Ireland if they cannot organise themselves and bring together  some sort of investigation that does have some statutory limit measure brought in to out people.

"I want to see people in handcuffs, I want to see people going in front of the courts."
