The Special Education Minister will be urged to introduce emergency legislation to address a shortfall in special classes, when she meets with campaigners later.
Autism charity, As I Am, says more than 260 children don't have a place this coming September.
Special education centres had been proposed as a temporary solution to help solve the situation, but they've faced criticism from disability and human rights groups.
CEO of As I Am, Adam Harris, says ministerial powers need to be improved so children have a class to go to in three months time.
"They have the power already under statute book section 37A, but it's not fit for purpose - it takes too long and it's underused.
"What we need to see is emergency legislation introduced, we've seen how that can be done for example in the context of Covid-19.
"We've seen how the state can react accordingly when emergency situations arrive, and we've seen that in terms of Covid and the Ukraine crisis.
"We need that level of response for what is an unprecedented situation that concerns the rights of children in Ireland."
