Social Justice Ireland is calling for social welfare rates to be increased by a minimum of €10 as part of October's budget.
The group says its up to the Government not to leave the vulnerable behind.
The increase would see the basic welfare payment increase to at least €213 per week.
Sean Healy of Social Justice Ireland says an extra payment is necessary to prevent vulnerable people falling further in to poverty.
"we're calling on the government to increase minimum social welfare rates by €10 in Budget 2022 to stop poverty rising.
"The following budget should do it by the same amount.
"Welfare rates have fallen behind, because the last two budgets gave no increase whatsoever in core welfare rates."
