There's a call on Government to know what level of profits supermarkets are making in Ireland.
The Consumers' Association is reacting to Tesco Ireland's plans to cut prices by around 10% on food, household and beauty products.
Aldi and Lidl say they won't be being getting into any price war with Tesco.
Consumers' Association of Ireland Chairman Michael Kilcoyne wants to know what profits they're making.
"Any cut in prices of cost of living items is to be welcomed.
'However I don't see this as being the real issue. The real issue is the kinds of margins that supermarkets are making on the products.
"I think that the Government and the Minister in particular should be pursing the issue of what kind of profits they're making in Ireland."
