There's a call for the government to crack down on drinking at teen discos.
Alcohol Forum Ireland is calling for immediate steps to be taken to regulate large scale discos on licensed premises.
It comes as the Intoxicating Liquor Bill is being brought forward by government.
The forum's CEO, Paula Leonard, says there's now an opportunity with this bill to make these events safer:
"The teenage disco has become a rite of passage. But since about 2004 the legislation changed, which permits his children to be on licensed premises for under 18 events so long as alcohol wasn't being sold at the time. That really created conditions for these large scale, loosely supervised what have become highly sexualized and risky environments."
