There are increased calls for the Health Minister to explain the circumstances which led to the Slaintecare resignations.
Last week, Director Laura Megahy and Chairman Professor Tom Keane stepped down from their roles.
They resigned after expressing frustration at the lack of political will to end the two-tier health service.
Cork MEP Billy Kelleher was a member of the Oireachtas Committee which established Slaintecare and says Minister Stephen Donnelly has some important questions to answer.
"Why did they resign? And if they resigned because they did not see the pace of change, then we have to ask ourselves the next question - is there political commitment to Slaintecare?
"Is the Department of Health, is the HSE, is the Minister and the Government fully committed to ensuring that Slaintecare is rolled out in a timely way to provide universal healthcare for the Irish people?"
