The Leaving Cert in it's current form needs to be completely overhauled, so all students are given equal opportunities.
That's the view of one Guidance Counsellor, who says the latest feeder school report shows how predicted grades provided better access to higher-level education.
According to the Irish Times, the number of students from disadvantaged backgrounds going onto college has fallen by almost 4 per cent this year.
Betty McLoughlin believes a change to the current examination process is needed:
"There is a root and branch review of senior cycle ongoing. The assessment is of course going to be the tricky bit with teachers correcting their own students, but I think, you know, it is time to really take stock when we see the Great Divide really that these details actually not far as system is that on students."
