A group representing families of road victims say more gardaí are badly needed.

The number working in the Roads Policing Unit has dropped from more than 1-thousand in 2009, to 620 this year.

123 people have died in crashes so far this year, with 13 of those fatalities here in Cork

Founder of the PARC  Road Safety Group, Susan Gray says we're still waiting for the 75 additional road policing officers that were promised this year

"The competitions were opened in April, and there's no panel, as far as we're concerned set up yet, to do interviews. They were supposed to take place in June and July. They would really need to make this a priority to ensure that the seventy five that's promised are assigned to roads policing units before the end of this year"
