There are renewed calls for insurance companies to reduce the price of premiums following a legal ruling on personal injury claims.
A number of challenges had been brought against new Personal Injuries Guidelines published last year - the lead challenge was yesterday dismissed by the High Court.
The new guidelines reduced the amount people can claim for personal injuries.
A report published by the Personal Injuries Assessment Board last year found the value of general damages had reduced by 46 percent compared to 2020.
Director of the Alliance for Insurance Reform, Peter Boland, says customers should now demand cheaper premiums.
"Judgement was issued on the lead challenge yesterday, the judgement effectively threw out the challenge to the guidelines on all counts.
"As a result there will be much more certainty on the cost of claims going forward.
"That now needs to be reflected in the cost of insurance, both motor which isn't coming down fast enough, and liability which is actually going up."
