There are calls for tougher restrictions on marketing junk food for children.
The Irish Heart Foundation says the newly-published Online Safety Bill is a missed opportunity to curb the negative affects of digital advertising.
The charity's Policy Manager Kathryn Reilly says the Government has failed to appreciate the key role junk food plays in eroding children’s health:
"The failure to carry through on the recommendation of the cross party committee into the actual bill as published is worrying for us. We will, of course, be seeking amendments as the bill progresses through the Oireachtas and we hope that those Oireachtas members, who sat on that committee, who made that recommendation, will support us in that."
