They are also calling for compulsory anti-racism training for teachers.
Youth Against Racism and Inequality will set up mock classrooms in Cork and Dublin this afternoon as a protest action.
The group says teachers repeating the N-word in classroom readings of assigned texts like To Kill a Mockingbird is unacceptable.
The group's spokeswoman Haritha Olaganathan, says black students dread the moment it comes up.
"I know a lot of black people and a lot of my black friends even have been very uncomfortable at that stage where they were reading the book, alongside their teacher reading out loud, and they were just anticipating that moment where they read that the N word, it's not the right message, it obviously can encourage white students in the class to use that language because they think that it's acceptable."
