School-leavers will now be able to access information on traineeships from the CAO portal.
The range of third-level options are being expanded to include traineeships, which combine classroom education and hands-on work experience.
Higher Education Minister Simon Harris says "third level education is not confined to the walls of a university".
He added that it's vital young people are aware of all of the options available to them, and recognise that success comes in different shapes and sizes.
